A BIT ABOUT ME

As a dedicated spinal surgeon I’ve seen everything in my career, from spines crushed in accidents to tumours wrapped around nerves.  However, the majority of my work is operating on spines damaged by 'wear and tear' – the leading cause of chronic back and neck pain.

After studying medicine at Oxford I initially trained as neurosurgeon. After receiving the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery in 2011, I found myself drawn to spinal surgery and in particular the problems of spinal cord injury and chronic spinal pain. I completed a Complex Spine Fellowship and have been a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon since 2013.

Preventing paralysis from spinal disease or just helping people live life pain-free makes spinal surgery an immensely rewarding branch of surgery. Knowing that I’ve improved the quality of someone’s life is wonderful, especially those with potentially life-changing conditions.

I practice at the BMI Ridgeway Hospital, Wiltshire and The Great Western Hospital, Swindon.  I also have an honorary contract at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London.
